Tamworth Gallery wins funding to host major touring exhibition

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce today congratulated the Tamworth Regional Gallery which will receive Visions of Australia funding to hold its Third Tamworth Textile Triennial: Open House exhibition.

 

“The funding of $57,500 will be used to help showcase contemporary textile practice from a broad selection of artists from across Australia in Tamworth between 13 October & 10 December, 2017”, Mr Joyce said.

 

The Visions of Australia regional touring program supports the development and touring of exhibitions of Australian culture and material originating elsewhere held in Australian collections.

 

Minister for the Arts, Senator Mitch Fifield said the Visions of Australia program provides audiences with access to high quality arts and culture with a focus on audiences in regional and remote Australia. 

 

Four development projects and seven touring projects are supported through the first of two funding rounds in 2016-17.  These will reach 108 venues across all states and territories, 79 of which are in regional locations.

 

The Australian Government provides approximately $2.4 million each financial year to encourage curatorial and financial partnerships across the collections sector through the Visions of Australia program.

 

The next funding round opened on 6 February, 2017 and closes on 10 March, 2017.
