Local Ex-services clubs receive grants for veteran advocacy services

10 Aug 2017

The Tamworth RSL Sub-branch and Legacy NSW Tamworth will receive grants under the Federal Coalition Government’s Building Excellence in Support and Training (BEST) programme, Deputy Prime Minister and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, said today.

The BEST grants programme is designed to assist with the provision of advocacy services by organisations across Australia.

“It is great news that the Tamworth RSL Sub-branch will receive $22,777 and Legacy Tamworth $8,700 under the BEST programme to contribute to the provision of veterans’ advocacy services in the Tamworth area,” Mr Joyce said.

“The BEST programme is an important part of the Government's commitment to support Ex-Service Organisation's (ESO's) that do important work in the community on behalf of our veterans.

“These funds have been provided under Round 19 of the programme, which had a total of $3.8 million available for local veteran services.

“It is important that we continue to provide support for veteran advocacy in the community, that’s why the Federal Coalition Government restored a further $1 million to the BEST programme when elected in 2013,” he said.
