Communities across the New England are growing by the day, not only because of our warm hospitality but also due to the strong growth in our regional infrastructure.
From Scone to Inverell, Tenterfield to Tamworth, communities in our New England electorate are reaping the rewards of new projects funded through the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
Towns across the region are invited to apply for a share in the next round of grants with $200 million in additional funding now available.
Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, said major developments already underway through previous funding rounds include an $8.4 million redevelopment of Inverell Regional Livestock Exchange and an $11.8 million upgrade for Scone Regional Livestock Selling Centre.
More than $65,000 in Federal Government funding has also been provided for community-led projects like Tenterfield’s Peter Allen Festival which was celebrated just recently, and to deliver a Cultural and Arts Strategic Plan in Inverell.
“These are the type of projects that are drawing people to our region while the infrastructure construction helps to drive the economies of our drought-affected communities in need of every source of investment they can find,” Mr Joyce said.
“I strongly encourage more communities to apply for this latest funding which will create more jobs and attract more wealth back into our towns across the New England.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the projects delivered under Round 3 will ensure regional and remote communities continue to thrive.
“We have had fantastic outcomes over the first two funding rounds of the Coalition Government’s Building Better Regions Fund and I expect Round 3 to deliver more of the same with up to $45 million earmarked to increase tourism,” Mr McCormack said.
Applications opened on 27 September 2018 and close on 15 November 2018. Further information on eligibility and how to apply is available at infrastructure.gov.au/bbrf
