Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, is pleased to announce $14,000 in funding to assist local researchers engage with international partners.

Paul Kwan and Tamsyn Crowley, from the University of New England, will receive $7,000 each under the Priming Grants component of the Global Connections Fund, an initiative of the Global Innovation Strategy and National Innovations and Science Agenda, to fund projects targeting innovation in the farming sector.

“Paul is partnering with China for his project which is focusing on farm management software and services, while Tamsyn is looking into novel interventions to replace antibiotics in poultry feed alongside Germany,” Mr Joyce said.

“It was great to contact the recipient and help in a small way with the work they are doing to create a stronger university.

“The New England is built around small business and farming families, so it’s vitally important we continue supporting these sorts of projects which are looking at new ways of doing business in the highly competitive agricultural market and it’s great to see our local university leading the way forward for Australia.”

The Global Connections Fund supports small and medium sized enterprise and research organisations engage with international partners. Priming Grants encourage translational activities, end use development and commercialisation outcomes.
