Festivals Australia applications open

20 Feb 2017

Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield, Minister for the Arts and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources and Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce have encouraged regional artists and organisations to apply for the Festivals Australia program.

The program provides around $1.2 million each year for high quality arts and cultural projects in regional and remote Australia that support community participation and audience engagement.

“I encourage organisations in the New England Electorate to apply for this funding to bring a wider range of cultural events to people in regional and remote areas,” Mr Joyce said.

“Activities can include parades, performances, workshops, installations, or exhibitions held as part of a festival or a significant one-off community event.”

Minister Fifield said the program is part of the Coalition Government’s commitment to improving access to arts and cultural events for those living in regional and remote Australia.

“Arts and cultural activities are an important way to bring communities together, celebrate diversity and promote a sense of community identity.

“This program helps organisations to deliver events in regional and remote areas and encourages community participation in arts projects outside of our major cities.”

This competitive grant round is one of two funding rounds available each year through the Department of Communications and the Arts.

Applications must be submitted by 5.00 pm AEDST on Friday, 24 March.

The guidelines and application form are available at: arts.gov.au/festivals.
