New Helpline for Small Business

23 Jan 2014

Federal Member for New England Barnaby Joyce has welcomed the launch of a new helpline for small business by the Minister for Employment Senator Eric Abetz, Minister for Small Business Bruce Billson and the Fair Work Ombudsman.

“Small business people who call the Fair Work Ombudsman’s new Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94 will now receive priority service, helping them to improve their understanding of workplace laws and assisting them to confidently grow, invest and create jobs,” Mr Joyce said.

“The Fair Work Ombudsman will help small business people by reducing waiting times, educating and assisting the sector to comply with workplace laws and reducing stress on small business owners.

“Small business is the economic lifeblood of our community and this initiative is part of a wider program to improve the level of support for small business and to increase the sector’s productivity,” he said.

The Fair Work Infoline is available between 8.00 am and 5.30 pm weekdays and a free interpreter service is available on 13 14 50.

“The establishment of the Fair Work Infoline reflects the Coalition’s commitment to restore confidence in the small business sector, encourage growth, drive employment and innovation and delivers on the Coalition’s Policy to Improve Australia’s Fair Work Laws,” Mr Joyce concluded.
