STUDENTS and schools in the Electorate of New England are urged to take part in this year’s Anzac Day Schools’ Awards, Federal Member for New England Barnaby Joyce said today.

“Our nation will commemorate the 99th anniversary of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps at Gallipoli on April 25 in a few weeks,” Mr Joyce said.

“The Anzac Day Schools’ Awards is a competition providing schools with the opportunity to win cash prizes for demonstrating their commemorative activities and learning around this important anniversary,” he said.

He said with the centenary of the Gallipoli landings, the Government was able to provide important educational resources to assist with the teaching of Australia’s wartime history to students.

“Schools that enter will receive a certificate of achievement and may win a state, national or special category prize,” Mr Joyce said.

“The Australian Government is investing more than $140 million in events and activities to commemorate the Centenary of Anzac.
