This investment will improve the liveability for families at Muswellbrook, with the Precinct designed to provide active and passive recreation opportunities that are safe and provide a sense of belonging whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Member for New England Mr Joyce said as Muswellbrook grows, the need for green, family friendly active spaces will become very important for the community.
“Having spaces that children can enjoy, adults can connect, and potential new residents can find appealing to relocate for work or a tree change from the suburbs of Sydney to the community of Muswellbrook is important,” Mr Joyce said.
The community of Muswellbrook and the Muswellbrook Shire Council have shared their vision for the future growth of the region that includes multiple industries and lifestyle opportunities that Mr Joyce is backing in.
“The Muswellbrook region deserves serious investment and will no longer be the forgotten town, as it has been under a Labor Government, rather a Coalition Government will get Muswellbrook back on track.”
Muswellbrook Mayor Jeff Drayton said the funding towards the Wollombi Precinct Plan is a welcome commitment to a worthwhile Council project for the community. Muswellbrook Shire Council's staged delivery program for the precinct will include an adventure playground, basketball court, murals, multipurpose playing courts, parkour facility, an oval, irrigation, picnic shelters, barbecues, new access road and parking, pedestrian paths and lighting, public amenities, avenue and park tree plantings and bush regeneration.
"The purpose of the Wollombi Precinct Plan is to give this community a place they're proud of, where they can exercise and unwind in a safer, greener space with better roads and pedestrian access for everyone," Mayor Drayton said.
"We want this precinct to be a place for families where our young people feel valued. Council's full vision at Wollombi needs $10 million in funding, and this is a significant step that should be adopted across the party divide."
