IMPROVED FACILITIES FOR THE HOME OF THE ARMIDLAE RAMS

The Coalition Government has committed $600,000 to improve amenities at the Armidale Rams Rugby League Club, ensuring the community has safer, more accessible and fit-for-purpose facilities.

Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce said the club was important to the Armidale community in many ways and required updated change facilities and amenities to continue to be home to more than 13 teams, schools, other sporting groups and matches.

“I am honoured to announce this commitment that will not only benefit the Armidale Rams of today, but all of our budding Rugby League stars for generations to come,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

“The Armidale Rams has been committed to making this project a reality for almost two years now, and today all their efforts have been rewarded.

“The development of Rugby League Park here in Armidale will provide enormous ongoing economic benefits to the local community, by enabling the club to host higher level competitions, large community events and catering for the need of every player, official and supporter.

“I would also like to commend club President Jessica Smith for her tireless efforts in making sure this great club wasn’t left behind and continues to move forward in-line with the current boom of female participation in the great sport of Rugby League.”

The Deputy Prime Minister said because of COVID, regional Australia has never been a more attractive place to live for millions of Australians.

“As the only political party from regional Australia that understands this, we stand ready to meet these challenges. The Nationals in Government are managing these challenges so that key local infrastructure is not left behind,” he said.

Only the Coalition will deliver for the residents of Armidale and this announcement is part of our plan to build a strong economy and a stronger future.
