Currabubula now boasts brand a new multi-sport facility, clubhouse, and new kitchen at the recreation reserve following almost $20,000 in funding support from the Coalition Government.

The Currabubula Local Advisory Group was awarded a grant of $8,656 under Round 3 of the Stronger Communities Program for resurfacing preparation works of the town’s tennis courts and upgrade of the clubhouse, complete with new floor and cabinetry.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring Currabubula Pony Club was awarded a further $11,344 to upgrade its badly water-damaged kitchen. The fit-out includes new benchtops, appliances and associated works in line with modern health and safety requirements.

The federally-funded components of both these projects are now complete with some additional resurfacing works on the tennis court, supported by the state government, still ongoing.

Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce, said the new facilities will be a major asset for the entire town.

“The pony club alone hosts dozens of meetings each year here for annual camps and inter-club visits, drawing visitors to town from across the region,” Mr Joyce said.

“The kitchen refurbishments and tennis court upgrades will be an invaluable asset not only for local members but also for the long-term sustainability and viability of the Currabubula community.”

The Stronger Communities Program provides each electorate with $150,000 to fund small capital projects which improve local community participation and contribute to vibrant viable communities.

Additional projects in the New England funded in Round 3 include Oxley Community Transport Service ($12,500) for vehicle safety upgrades; Dungowan Tennis Club ($5,186) for court improvements and Nowendoc Bushman’s Carnival Association ($20,000) to upgrade the arena, cattle rails and stockyards.
