Federal Member for New England Barnaby Joyce has announced that a meeting will be held between himself, Federal Health Minister Peter Dutton and State Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall in Canberra on Thursday.

The meeting, to be held in Minister Dutton’s office at Parliament House, will focus on the best path forward over the Armidale Hospital redevelopment project.

“My office has been in discussions with State Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall and Federal Health Minister Peter Dutton for some time in an attempt to organise this meeting, so I am pleased we are able to get everyone in the same room,” Minister Joyce said.

“The first week of federal parliamentary sittings has provided the best opportunity to hold this meeting and Adam has also made himself available.

“I have already held several informal meetings with Minister Dutton regarding the Armidale hospital redevelopment, however it is important we are able to get the relevant parliamentarians at both the state and federal level to discuss the issue together.

“At the meeting, I will be expressing to Minister Dutton the importance of this issue to the Armidale community.

“However, the reality that we are living in is trying to pay off Labor’s debt.

“That’s why it is so important we get on the front foot with this issue and follow the necessary channels to lobby for the project.”
