If you needed any further evidence of the largess that is associated with Mr Rudd’s ETS, the employment termination scheme, or extra tax system, you would need to go no further than to look at the smiling faces of the bankers, brokers and bureaucrats who are set to benefit from it.
The greatest benefactors of this scheme will be the wonderful gentlemen in beautiful cars drinking imported beers working in the centre of town and making obscene amounts of money by buying and selling an idea in the atmosphere. The problem of course is that it is your money that is sponsoring them.
A new brigade of Giorgio Armani suits are set to reap millions of dollars in commissions because of their cunning capacity to enmesh themselves in the fervour of this moralising and monstrous tax grab.
Don’t expect to see photos of shopping bills, when the price of food goes up, or the faces of Australian working families who’ll lose their jobs because of a scheme that will do nothing to change the temperature of the globe.
If you believe Yvo de Boer, the United Nations Climate Chief, the ETS will do nothing to influence the global politics of climate.
If you believe Mr Combet on Lateline last night, Labor has no intention of constructively involving themselves in any changes to the legislation; however it appears Ms Wong’s position on the 7.30 report was somewhat different.
Ms Wong and Mr Combet should have had a yarn together before they went on the same television channel on the same night, as they are actually in the same party.
The National Party has been consistent with their views all the way along but the Labor Party is now reacting to the massive change in the public’s view.
Yesterday Ms Wong called the Frontier Economics model a “mongrel” and today she wants it to have pups and take them home and care for them.
Even the good Lord was confused yesterday and tried to turn out the lights in Canberra, clearly believing that the sort of things Labor is doing should be done in the dark.
On a more serious note, if the Labor party wants to go to an election on the premise of introducing a new tax then maybe they should have a chat to Mr Keating who capitalised on Dr Hewson’s misled belief that the Australian people would vote for new tax.
The election will be one in which the true believers of Labor’s new religion will be played by Professor Garnaut as the Messiah, the Prime Minister and Ms Wong as the High Priest and Priestess and the ETS, the tithings inflicted on the masses.
