My appointment as Shadow Finance Minister by Tony Abbott gives The Nationals the type of influence they have not had since the time of Artie Fadden in the 1950s.
There has been some focus by the media that the “maverick” tag will be shelved, but as I said on ABC’s AM to Alexandra Kirk: No one likes to relinquish the freedom that they have, but what's the alternative? To be a free voice on every issue for an eternity in Opposition wasn't looking too good. I haven’t had a personality transplant but the Shadow Cabinet will be the venue for the argument now. The Treasurer Mr Swan has challenged us to promise to limit spending increases when the economy fully recovers. We will be doing many things, but mimicking the Labor Party isn’t one of them. The Shadow Cabinet’s expenditure review committee will determine what can be done and we will be prudent and we will be diligent. As I said to Phil Coorey from The Sydney Morning Herald: ''I'm an accountant. I've just found myself a big new client - it's called Australia.''

To the Accountant Barnaby Joyce
Water the CRITICAL Issue

There is a giantic issue on which I believe our very survival depends, this issue needs someone as tenancious as you to drive it.
I am a former grazier of 30 years, I have lived with drought, fire and flood together with all the challenges which living on the land presents. I have lived in Sydney and its surrounds for the past 11 years, watching water gushing into the ocean with no attempt to trap this finite resource by councils or governments of any persuasion.
After listening to an interview on RN this week with a Dorpa grower on the lower Lachlan River at Booligal; the Lower Lachlan has stopped running. They have only enough water for one month!! Their survival and ultimately ours is at risk.
Bradfield's plan to turn the northern rivers inland needs to be revisited, this could do no more harm than our so called enlightened society has brought to bare!!; on the interior river systems and the environment of our country.
The appalling waste of tax payers' money by the federal government to buy back water licences on the Murray River, when there is effectively no water to buy back; madness in the extreme. The taxpayers and residents of this country need you with a holistic approach to get the debate started and as quickly as possible the rivers running again.

I had the opportunity to listen to one of your talks on ETS v Climate Change. I was most impressed. Congratulations on your appointment! You will be a formidable member of an incredible team. Don't ever shut up, don't ever change. We, the Australian people need more people like you and Tony Abbott to protect us and our wonderful country.

Oh no - it has just been announced that the last 6 months have been Australias hottest on record - how can this be when we have all those right wing loonies chanting the magic words "The earth is cooling"???. Perhaps the Bureau of Meteorology have been taken over by communists.

Luckily we have Abbott & his "Dads Army" to save us

Since Abbott chose his new front bench (known widely now as Dads Army) it hard to chose who is the most incompetent. There are lots of cranks & buffoons - such as Bishop, Joyce or the bumbling tea lady , Sophie Mirabella.

For serious derangement though you cant go past Kevin Andrews who :

- lied about writing 3 books
- showed appalling incompetence over the Haneef scandal
- fabricated stories about violence amongst Sudanese immigrants
- is advisor to the board of Life Decisions International - sort of a Christian Taliban who want sanctions against evil organisations such as Disney, eBay, Johnson & Johnson & that den of atheist n'er-do-wells Rotary (I am not joking)

Andrews is a total nutcase - a fitting standard bearer of Dads Army

I helped vote you in...
I have not always agreed with what you have said, but I have always admired your conviction.
I beleive in Global Warming - BUT - with something as important as this, it is incumbant upon us to do the right thing - first time. This is not time to be politically correct, nor is it a time to embrace cynicism. We have to embrace that which helps set us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom - the ability to take responsibility! ...and to do that, we must set party politics aside and embrace a 'war-cabinet' mentality.
Often, you seem to be the lone voice of reason in the wilderness that Don Chipp wanted to be. Keep it up!

Abbott is a whining hypocrite!!!

On the Thursday Nov 19 Daily Telegraph blog (read it yourself) headed "Rudd, take us seriously on ETS" Abbott stated "If the Rudd Government really wants its emissions trading scheme passed next week, it must take the Oppositions amendments seriously”
Well Abbott, Rudd did take you seriously & Ian Macfarlane brilliantly negotiated many concessions for the opposition.

Abbott supported Howard when he took ETS to the 2007 election claiming “We have established a committee which recommended the introduction of an ETS. And work is well underway to introduce that by 2011. It will be the most comprehensive ETS anywhere in the world.”

Abbott supported Howard when he signed Kyoto in 1997

Now Abbott states climate change is "crap" , that the earth is cooling, that he have some secret magic plan to address climate change (why bother if you claim the earth is cooling???) but which Hockey says will cost $50 billion. More different positions than he had dodgy excuses for invading Iraq

Abbott - YOU LIED!!!
# Jjannie
Thursday, December 10, 2009 4:46 AM
Abbott told us a load of crap about his free way to take action on climate change - which Joe Hockey told us would cost $50 billion.

Abbott claimed Rudds new high target ETS will cost $400 billion - which was $250 billion too high.

On Lateline early this week Abbott told us about his new plan for climate change - then an hour later told us the earth is cooling

Is Abbott dishonest or incompetent? Cant anyone in his "Dads Army" use a calculator?

I very much enjoyed the way that Barnaby came across on the Insiders and particularly what he had to say. Isn't it a shame that the ABC news at 7.00PM was running true to form and only saw fit to air Barnabys comment about definitely not being the Minister for The Arts. Why would they deserve to have their budget increased when they are so biased. They rubbished John Howard at every opportunity.Looks like Barnaby is in for the same. It could be a good omen though,John Howard became one of the best, even though the ABC and the media in general battled to think so.It's good to see Kevin Andrews back.Work Choices was and is just what Australia needs. The problem is because of the Labour Party and the media, not enough people realise it. I would encourage you very strongly to continue with Work choices, but in a more positive way.Forget about the no- disadvantage test. All that did was to make the Work Choices concept look weak, indecisive and complicated. It caused a logistical nightmare of claims waiting to be heard.Be positive with this. The no- disadvantage test made the Howard Government look like they didn't have full confidence in work choices. You cannot hope to satisfy everybody al the time. Be confident and dont try to win everybodies vote.

I've just read Penny Leahs' comments under "Water the Critical Issue" regading turning at least one of the coastal rivers inland. I've agreed with this for years and believe that if the Coalition Parties could find the intestinal foritude to stand up to the Greens they may be pleasantly surprised as to how many other Austalians feel the same way. If it is ever going to happen now is the time to revive this old idea because people are much more water conscious these days. It is the same as the Snowy Mountain Scheme only different. We are making something which is very simple - look and sound complicated.

Below is my suggestion for reducing pollution
It relies on reduction rather than trading
CO2 producer Value Solution Effect

Coal for internal use High Calculate usage as at 2000.of Coal mines & Electricity plants to plant a tree per 10 tonnes used from 2000 and in future. Plantings to be of mill timber on Mine sites/ Electric plant sites/ new country All industries will suffer from the increase in the cost of Electricity thus overcoming the need to tax such industries like mining & agriculture . A new industry in the form of forestry management will evolve.
Coal Export High elsewhere Charge a future tax on each ton of coal exported. This income to be used to support development of alternative, low emission generating methods The CO2 production in other countries is their business. The new tax will not equate to an unbearable cost to exporters but will ensure that exporters will pay for the use of Australian Resources
Petrol Pass MV High Legislate that passenger vehicles must be developed with low emission/ low usage ratings ( say 14 l / 100 ). Tax high user MV users and use to support development of alternative, low emission generating methods
Diesel Pass Moderate Support the use of diesel in motor vehicles
Diesel Trans Moderate Introduce a Tax on roar transport . Monies to be directed to research on low consumption engines.
Livestock Moderate Livestock are not the cause of increased pollution because , like people , they have been around always. Livestock are producers of protein and vital to existence.
Diesel Farm Moderate Protein producers. Support and encourage the use of Minimum/ no till technology
Nuclear Low Support Tax funds to develop the method of generation. Also allow tax claims against research & development
Wind Low Support Tax funds to develop the method of generation
Nat Gas Low Support Tax funds to develop the method of generation. Tax export gas with monies directed to Low emission systems.
Geothermal Low Support Tax funds to develop the method of generation
Wave/Tide generation Low Support Tax funds to develop the method of generation

After the congratulations, back to Climate Change. Read Ian Plimer's book, and from that read "Green Planet in Blue Shackles" by Vaclav Klaus who recommends reading novel "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton; which just done. Very well researched book, and in Appendix he likens the Climate Change/Global Warming/IPCC people to Eugenicists, relating that they did research from early 1900's, on identifying individual undesirables eg people of wrong religion, colour or appearance etc, and how to prevent them from
'breeding'. This started in USA and later involved Germans who started gassing unwanted individuals, leading of course to mass extermination during WW2. The likening rings true. Do we really want to be closely involved, if at all, with such people, and is it that the present Prime Minister seeks such people. Let's ask ourselves do we want to end up enslaved to him, or worse yet to Penny Wong. Please help the situation Barnaby (Which we know you are tring to do).

Congratulations on your appointment - you are a breath of fresh air! Border protection, hospitals, stimulus wastage, debt, ETS stupidity, Kevin waffle
- there is plenty of ammunition

I watched David Spears tonight parroting the Labor line like most of the Press Gallery, and continuing to ask you what would you do to rectify some of Kevin Rudd's blunders.

The answer is: 'Labor won the last election, not us. They are in government, so why don't you ask them what they will do to fix the problem. Our job is to identify the problems and hold them accountable, which should also be the job of the media. The Government's job is to come with the answers. not us - we will finalise our policies well before the next election.'

Keep punching!

The leader of Dad's Army shoots himself in the foot again!!!
Its Friday - perhaps Abbott has yet another policy on climate change - perhaps he now thinks its real but caused by aliens

Abbott gets in a muddle about emissions model
PHILLIP COOREY
December 12, 2009

TONY ABBOTT was digging himself out of his first hole as Opposition Leader last night after declaring boldly and often that the Government had failed to produce modelling which detailed the costs of its emissions trading scheme.

The Government, however, pointed to the public release in October last year of Treasury modelling and then set about branding Mr Abbott as erratic, reckless and unreliable.

Mr Abbott showed no humility. He dismissed the Treasury findings as ''implausible'' and out of date and demanded fresh figures.

Mr Abbott, who has adopted a no-holds-barred approach to Opposition, began the fight on Wednesday when he speculated that if Australia agreed to cut its emissions by more than 5 per cent, the cost would be upwards of $400 billion.

The ETS would raise $120 billion over 10 years if it cut emissions by the unconditional 5 per cent by 2020.

Following rumours the 2020 target could be lifted to 15 per cent or 25 per cent at Copenhagen, Mr Abbott made a simple linear multiplication to reach the $400 billion figure.

The Government said the real cost of an increased target would be about $150 billion and accused Mr Abbott of making a $250 billion blunder.

Campaigning in Townsville yesterday against the ''big whopping new tax'', Mr Abbott rejected he had got his figures wrong and accused the Government of having no modelling to underpin its claims. ''The Federal Government has never released the modelling,'' he said.

The Treasurer, Wayne Swan, said Mr Abbott was prone to making erratic claims. The assistant Climate Change Minister, Greg Combet, said Mr Abbott had ''demonstrated just how reckless he is and how unreliable he is''.

Mr Abbott claimed the Treasury figures had been ''superseded by events''. He alleged the Government had redone the work since ''and it's high time they released all this redone work''.

The Greens said Mr Abbott's misunderstanding of basic climate policy was ''astonishing'' but also blasted the Government, saying its defence exposed how cheap it would be to make more meaningful cuts to emissions.

Congratulations. Great appointment as Opposition Finance Spokesman.

I was very impressed by the following http://www.theage.com.au/national/joyces-armageddon-warning-20091210-km90.html which is the second highest rated article in The Age.

Finally we have a politician in a position of influence who is prepared to speak up and tell us how it really is.

With reference to what is really going on in the USA and elsewhere as distinct from a lot of media spin the following site makes fantastic reading.
http://jsmineset.com/

For example, from "Jim's Mailbox," dated December 10:

Harm to Americans From "Pretend and Extend"
by CIGA Richard B

We have been discussing Washington’s strategy of letting US banks assign their own, individually calculated values to the least wanted, least sellable “toxic” assets on their balance sheets. This was accomplished by pressuring the Financial Accounting Standards Board (“FASB”) to suspend fair value accounting requirements for these assets beginning the first quarter of this year.

Banks responded by assigning values many times what they could sell them for, generating false paper profits that gave the banking sector the illusion of getting better. This is the “pretend” part of your aptly named “pretend and extend” strategy.

Keep up teh great work.

In my eyes there are many polititians whom should be before a court.
There are some that meet the definitian of Traitor.
To put oneself or ones political party before the people of Australia is to be a traitor. I wish it was 1941-1945. At least tar and feather them. Certainly not pay them. Your comments on the US economy are true if they don't get their act together but what were you trying to prove with your comments? scare-mongering? attention seeking? You sound like a greenie telling everyone "THE SKY IS FALLING IN!!"

If panic mongers cause the US to go into a debt crisis, then a severe depression and the third world war is inevitable .. is that what you want?

The US needs to get tough on China to float it's currency. pegging should be illegal.

What a wonderful and eclectic bunch of fruitloops Barnaby attracts.

It is great that the rational amongst us can log on to ol' Honest Barnaby's blog and have a final Friday afternoon chuckle reading the whacky and irrational comments that are guaranteed to be there!

Wilson Tuckey, Barnaby, The Mad Monk, Great Aunt Bronny ... what a colourful and eclectic bunch they are and don't they tickle our funny bones with their whacky language and upside down logic ... that becomes inverted again depending on what the government is actually doing.

The thing about Barnaby going into the shadow cabinet is that it will result in one of two things happening:

1. He will have a big argument with teh Mad Monk, chairs will fly, fists will be pumped, ad he will storm out and spin it that "Tony was trying to emasculate the Nationals and I couldn't stand by while ordinary Australians are trodden on ..." or words to that effect.

2. He will buckle down and respect shadow cabinet solidarity. If this happens we will never hear from him again, because Cartoon Barnaby, the cotton industry-backed molekin-clad polly we all love to hear spruik his homespun codswallop, that Barnaby can't be a member of any cabinet (excpet the liquor cabinet). Only Smart, Clever, Considered Barnaby (the alter ego) can make the cut. It will require discipline, but I'm sure he can do it. I just doubt that he wants to do it.

My call is ... Option (1). I reckon Cartoon Barnaby is the one his backers want - and Cartoon Barnaby is the one that gets him on the news.

So option (1) within 6 months at even money.

Anyone like those odds?

Mr Joyce

Love your honestly in telling it like it is about ETS and Massive US debt.
I Have a great idea worth exploring.

Setup Asutralia Post retail network as a Bank that borrows of Federal Reserve and raises deposits for their own super funds. This would really put banks under major pressure to be competitive and reduce interest rates and fees. LIke a 9% credit card instead of 15% or a home loan at 5.75% instead of nearly 8.5%

The profits from the bank could be used to plant more trees and reclaim desert so we actually really tackle the real reason for global warming.

To Jjannie, scio, Peter Knight, SW Johnson,
Obviously you are all converts to the Church Of Al Gore and are members of Chairman Rudds FAN CLUB!
Instead of using OFFENSIVE PURILE NAME CALLING why don't you discuss FACTS and not PROPAGANDA?
Chairman Rudd has failed Australia and failed the Australian people with his gross mismanagement of the Australian economy.
Australian is now in debt to over $115 BILLION DOLLARS!
And don't use the excuse that it is due to the global financial crisis. That is just a cop out!
I suspect that you all have shares in some carbon trading scheme and are poised to make a huge profit if this ETS(Employment Termination Scheme/Extra Tax System) is introduced.
Why else would you support an enormous tax on Australians based on a HOAX?
Have you not heard of CLIMATEGATE?
The media has censored the story in Australia, particularly the ABC(radio ALP).
The truth is out that corrupt scientists have manipulated data to PROVE this man made global warming.
Science does not work by CONSENSUS but by observation. It only takes one repeatable study to disprove a theory.

Remember the opposite of sceptical is gullible.

To Jjannie, scio, Peter Knight, SW Johnson,

I hope you enjoy living a SUBSISTENCE LIFESTYLE because that is what YOU will be living if the antichrists rudd/wonng get their ETS(Extra Tax System/Employment Termination Scheme) and their treasonous deal at COPENHAGEN!

HAVE YOU EVEN READ THE DRAFT?

You have obviously been BRAINWASHED by The Global Religion Guru!

How much of YOUR OWN reading/research have YOU done on this particular subject? Or are YOU simply one of the SHEEP that cannot think for THEMSELVES!

So what you are saying is that you are ESTATIC at the thought of the following:-

64,000 jobs GONE out of the resources sector

17.5 billion dollars in extra taxes by 2012-13. to GIVE AWAY to third world countries

Electricity prices up 200%

Food; up 25% overnight,

Fuel; up 30%

Unemployment 20% (this is what happened in Spain!)

Governance by the unelected UN

All services and prices for goods to SKYROCKET

Etc etc…….

Do you seriously agree with these things?

Impact on the Earth’s temperature(which is COOLING) of an ETS – ZERO!

Impact on Al Gore’s bank account up by BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, through carbon trading!

Impact on Rudd – nice job on UN.

Impact on you and I – screwed!!!!!!!!!

Don’t say “that can’t happen”. It WILL happen, THIS YEAR if people don’t speak up against it!

It’s sad that there are so many UNTHINKING SHEEP in Australia, who will just accept what is being done to them without a word.

Diggers fought and died to protect Australia and YOU advocate signing away our SOVERIGNITY at the stroke of a pen.

What a traitor! Or are you simply an imbecile?

Once this ETS(Extra Tax System/Employment Termination Scheme) is introduced and this COPENHAGEN treason at the UN is signed there will be no way that we can withdraw from our obligations. Voting in another government here will not be able to undo this.

Don't forget that if this treasonous deal is signed in COPENHAGEN then part of Australia's SOVERIGNITY is being signed away. UNDERSTAND!

There are HIDDEN consequences also. By signing we are acknowledging that Australia has a DEBT to the Third World!

Therefore OVER 7 BILLION DOLLARS PER YEAR are going to be just GIVEN AWAY to these countries. So they destroy their own countries with deforestation, poor land use strategies and corruption and WE GET TO PAY THEM FOR IT!

Read these stories if you doubt me.

=========================

So YOU are quite happy even ecstatic at the prospect of handing all this money to these countries while at the same time DESTROYING YOUR OWN country’s economy. Thereby plunging Australian's living standards back hundreds of years, while at the same time ELEVATING those of Third World Countries to our standard of living.

Please explain how this will affect the temperature of the Earth.

Please explain how this is in Australia’s best interests.

Are YOU INSANE? HAVE YOU SEEN A DOCTOR?

Maybe YOU have an interest in a carbon trading company and stand to profit?

And all based on what? A HOAX!

Parties with interests in carbon trading companies will become the new billionaires, while normal citizens will live in POVETY!

What about Australian Hospitals, Roads, Social Services etc.

Charity begins at home!

Obviously, YOU do not care about the welfare of your fellow Australians!

What a SELFISH ATTITUDE!

Oh of course we will have all these new green jobs YOU say. Tell me have you visited a wind farm lately. See many people working there? What about a solar power station. See many there either? No, I didn't think so!

ANSWER ME THIS:-

Al Gore has been issued a challenge to debate global warming.

HE HAS REFUSED!

What does it tell you about his convictions?

What is he afraid of?

Obviously being discovered as the Con Man that he is!

YOU provide references to JUST ONE UNBIASED SCIENTIST who states CATEGORICALLY, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THAT GLOBAL WARMING IS ABSOLUTELY CAUSED BY MANKIND!

Not MAYBE or POSSIBLY!

I challenge YOU to do so!

The Earth is in fact COOLING!

Everybody is entitled to their own OPINION on this so called man made global warming - NOBODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN FACTS.

The SCIENTIFIC FACTS ARE THAT THE EARTH IS COOLING!

Who are the DENIERS now?

The following story is very enlightening regarding so called man made climate change. “http://www.worldclimatereport.com /index.php/2009/10/06/antarctic-ice-melt-at-lowest-levels-in-satellite-era/ “

Where are the headlines? Where are the press releases? Where is all the attention? The ice melt across during the Antarctic summer (October-January) of 2008-2009 was the LOWEST ever recorded in the satellite history.

Oops so much for global warming.

Seems like very selective reporting by the media in the global brain washing campaign.

Only ONE SIDE is ever presented and NO TRUE DEBATE has ever been entered into.

Any dissenting view is ridiculed with puerile name calling- this attitude is insulting to people's intelligence to say the least.

Have a look at this article :-

One of the sources of corruption from the heart of the AGW scientific engine room, The Hadley Centre, Climate Research Unit has been hacked recently, with a large amount of data released. It throws serious doubt on man made global warming. This story has hit the New York Times, the UK’s The Telegraph, Fox News and the BBC.

“The opposite of sceptical is gullible.” The scientific process should always remain open to investigation, which means, “to criticism. Thus we can get rid of a badly fitting theory before the adoption of the theory makes us unfit to survive. By criticizing our theories we can let our theories die in our stead.” Karl Popper, The Rationality of Scientific Revolutions, an essay in “The Myth of the Framework.”

Until this leaked data is analysed there should be NO VOTING on any ETS(Employment Termination Scheme/Extra Tax System) by the Senate.

Additionally, there should be no negotiation at COPENHAGEN until the veracity of the claims made in the data are verified.

It would be HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE of the Labor Federal Government to do otherwise.

Potentially this may be the Smoking Gun which proves that the population has been conned by all the man made global warming fanaticism from the CHURCH OF AL GORE. Who, by the way is not a scientist, only a failed politician.

Lord Christopher Monckton successfully prevented Gore's film from screening

Ahh you say it has been SO HOT LATELY. Yes, it’s called THE WEATHER.

There was WEATHER prior to man’s existence on Earth and there will be WEATHER post mankind. It follows natural cycles.

It is the HEIGHT OF ARRORGANCE to think that mankind can affect the WEATHER on planet Earth. Only God has that power!

But, as that well known RED, Lenin said,

A LIE TOLD OFTEN ENOUGH BECOMES THE TRUTH.

Now is the time for a nationally televised debate on the ETS and Climate Change as well as Climategate. A two hour Sunday night special featuring Ian Plimer, Bob Carter, Professor Lindzen, David Bellamy and others. Let's put Rudd in the hot seat and have him answer questions from these highly credible scientists. Keep Tony Jones and the ABC well away.
If he has nothing to hid then why wouldn't he welcome the opportunity?

ABC misses Climategate, finds Lesotho

by Peter Smith

December 10, 2009

Unseasonal weather in Lesotho

After about six minutes of ABC television news on 7 December we were off to the small mountain kingdom of Lesotho in Africa where the locals claimed to be suffering from climate change. It is summer in Lesotho and it is supposed to be warm and dry. Instead it is very cold (‘plunging towards freezing’) and wet. This, apparently, according to the ABC, is more evidence of global warming; now, of course, popularly called ‘climate change’.

Whereas cold and rain out of season in Lesotho some years ago might have passed without comment, and certainly without being reported by the ABC in prime news time, it is now all down to climate change and ‘ABC newsworthy’. In times gone by, the inhabitants of Lesotho may have cursed the perfidy of the weather and prayed to their god for relief. They would as well; I suspect, have resignedly accepted the difficulties that their weather brought them. Not anymore; not now that they have a man-made earthly culprit to blame.

One young village chap of 17 years explained that he was afraid his animals and crops might suffer because of the cold. A member of the Lesotho royal family explained that the winters were now much colder than they used to be and summers dryer.

This was all a bit confusing. How is colder weather evidence of global warming I thought; obviously unreasonably. And, if it was raining wasn’t this a welcome change from the dry summers the royal person was speaking about?

Presumably, even to African correspondent Andrew Geoghegan, who filed this story, the facts were not fitting too well. I can only imagine that a large cue card was prepared and positioned behind the camera to prompt the royal person to add, at the end of his remarks, that the temperature in Lesotho these days was 3 to 5 degrees higher than it used to be. He did not explain how he had arrived at this startling conclusion.

The credibility of this segment of so-called news was zero to any intelligent person; even, I would hope, to those wedded to the conventional wisdom of man-made global warming. Such is the chutzpah at the ABC that the segment was presented without a hint of embarrassment.

I checked and discovered that the segment had previously been broadcast on PM where further value was added. According to a UN Development Programme spokesperson what was happening in Lesotho was representative of what was happening in the rest of Africa; ‘more drought’ and ‘more recurring floods’ and ‘heavy snow falls’. The UN spokesperson went on to say that natural disasters, health epidemics, conflict and social unrest may all result in Africa from climate change.

It’s a complicated picture by all accounts. It can be wetter or dryer, or colder or hotter, or more or less snowier. It is all climate change. I suspect only global warmists can make sense of it. To them any weather, and certainly any change in weather, and lets face it unchanging weather is something of a contradiction in terms, is a symptom of too much carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases being pumped out by the industrialised world. It’s a unifying theory. It’s the miasma of old brought up to date. Poisonous vapours causing all kinds and sorts of maladies. It’s salutary that miasma theory, as wrong as it was, lasted for hundreds of years from the Middle Ages up until the latter part of the 19th century. So error, unfortunately, is not necessarily an impediment to the conviction with which theories are held or to their longevity.

The ABC story, though without a shred of credibility or respectability did illustrate an important factor in the global warming debate. That is the role that developing countries are playing, specifically those with little chance of joining the industrial league. Developing countries in this category are urging action - effectively from the sidelines - in part by playing the victim. Any future untoward weather, natural disasters, health epidemics, conflicts or social unrest will not be the fault of the fates or of their own misgovernment; it will be the fault of industrialised countries. Victims look for compensation and that is what these developing countries are looking for. If this thing goes as is planned, large amounts of money will be gained. What that means is that these developing countries will remain an extremely loyal part of the coalition of those urging action on global warming. Their influence in international forums should not be underestimated – they will weep and wail, as we have seen in Copenhagen; and, to boot, will get plenty of air time on the ABC.

Gore Wrong on Snows of Kilimanjaro

The Netherlands is afire today over a Dutch study concluding Mount Kilimanjaro's snow melt — used as a symbol of AGW by Al Gore — is entirely natural.

December 3, 2009 - by Leon de Winter

Newspapers and news sites in the Netherlands today extensively broke the news of the findings of a research team led by Professor Jaap Sinninghe Damste — a leading molecular paleontologist at Utrecht University and winner of the prestigious Spinoza Prize — about the melting icecap of the Kilimanjaro, the African mountain that became a symbol of anthropogenic global warming.

Professor Sinninghe Damste’s research, as discussed on the site of the Dutch Organization of Scientific Research (DOSR) — a governmental body — shows that the icecap of Kilimanjaro was not the result of cold air but of large amounts of precipitation which fell at the beginning of the Holocene period, about 11,000 years ago.

The melting and freezing of moisture on top of Kilimanjaro appears to be part of “a natural process of dry and wet periods.” The present melting is not the result of “environmental damage caused by man.”

Professor Damste studied organic biomarker molecules in the sediment record of Lake Challa, near Mount Kilimanjaro, and reconstructed the changes and intensity of precipitation in this part of Africa over the last 25,000 years. They observed an 11,500 year cycle of intense monsoon precipitation.

In the dry period between 12,800 and 11,500 years ago, Kilimanjaro was ice-free.

At the end of this period, a dramatic climate change from very dry to very wet took place — driven by changes in solar radiation — resulting in the creation of an icecap. At the moment, this part of Africa seems to be at the end of a similar dry period, resulting in the disappearance of the famous icecap.

DOSR calls Al Gore’s iconic use of the melting cap of Kilimanjaro “unfortunate” — since it now seems to be mainly the result of “natural climate variations.”

The journal Nature published the highly technical article by Professor Sinninghe Damste’s team.

The website of Elsevier magazine — the Netherlands’ most circulated political weekly — broke the news as follows: “Dutchman discredits Al Gore’s climate evidence.”

Big Oil Behind Copenhagen Climate Scam

Shell Oil and British Petroleum express their vehement support for a global carbon tax in “Copenhagen Communiqué”

The big irony behind top globalists descending on Copenhagen in luxury private jets and stretch limos is not just the fact that their own behavior completely contradicts their self-righteous hyperbole about CO2 emissions, but that their propaganda is vehemently supported by the very same big oil interests they accuse climate skeptics of pandering to.

Probably one of the most flagrant examples of climate cronyism to emerge from the climategate scandal were emails in which CRU scientists, the body that provides much of the foundational global warming data for the UN IPCC, discuss how they conducted meetings with Shell Oil in order to enlist them as a “strategic partner” while getting them to bankroll pro-man made global warming research.

The emails reveal that the CRU was also trying to get money from oil giants British Petroleum and Exxon-Mobil, under its former identity as Esso.

“Now who is the shill for Big Oil again?” asks Anthony Watts. “Next time somebody brings up that ridiculous argument about skeptics, show them this.”

A “Copenhagen Communiqué” put out by leaders of over 500 global corporations in advance of this week’s summit calls for drastic measures on behalf of developed countries to “de-carbonise their economies” – a move that would completely devastate living standards and lead to gargantuan levels of unemployment.

The communiqué also demands that a global carbon tax be implemented via a carbon trading system. Bear in mind that the very people calling for such a system are the same people who will benefit from it to the tune of billions, as we shall explore later.

The statement calls for, “Measures to deliver a robust global greenhouse gas emissions market in order to provide the most effective, efficient and equitable emission reductions. It would be comprised of a growing series of national or regional “cap-and-trade” markets linked together, in which the “caps” are brought down in line with the targets that have been adopted for emission reduction.” The document also states that CO2 emissions need to be reduced by a staggering 50-85% by 2050, a process that would return humanity to a near stone age level of development.

And who are the radicals calling for such severe measures in the name of fighting the evil life giving gas that humans exhale and plants breathe? Greenpeace? Al Gore? Namely – James Smith, chairman of UK Shell Oil, Tony Hayward, Group Chief Executive, British Petroleum, along with hundreds of other global corporate giants, many of whom are directly tied in with big oil, and central banks who, far from bankrolling climate change skeptics, are directly invested in the scam of human-induced global warming.

A common charge leveled against global warming skeptics is that they are on the payroll of transnational oil companies, when in fact the opposite is true, oil companies are amongst the biggest promoters of climate change propaganda, emphasized recently by Exxon Mobil’s call for a global carbon tax. According to Exxon Mobil chief executive Rex Tillerson, the cap and trade nightmare being primed for passage in the Senate doesn’t go far enough – Tillerson wants a direct tax on carbon dioxide emissions, essentially a tax on breathing since we all exhale this life-giving gas.

In a speech earlier this year, Tillerson brazenly called out the cap and trade agenda for what it was, an effort to impose a carbon tax camouflaged only by a slick sales pitch and deceptive rhetoric. “It is easier and more politically expedient to support a cap-and-trade approach, because the public will never figure out where it is hitting them,” said Tillerson. “They will just know they hurt somewhere in their pocketbook,” he added, pointing out that he disagreed with this convoluted method of introducing a carbon tax, arguing instead that it would be more successful to openly propose a straight carbon tax.

Tillerson firmly expressed Exxon’s support for climate change alarmists in stating, “I firmly believe it is not too late for Congress to consider a carbon tax as the better policy approach for addressing the risks of climate change.” Exxon’s push for a carbon tax was subsequently restated by its vice president for public affairs Ken Cohen, who told a conference call that he wants a climate policy that creates “certainty and predictability, which is why we advocate a carbon tax.”

Cap & Trade - A License Required For Your Home

Just keep in mind this is relevant to the United States.
How long before the same thing is proposed in Australia?

http://www.rense.com/general88/cap.htm

We encourage you to read the provisions of the Cap and Trade Bill that has passed the House of Representatives and being considered by the Senate. We are ready to join the next march on Washington!
This Congress and whoever on their staffs that write this junk are truly out to destroy the middle class of the USA¡ .
A License Required for your house
Thinking about selling your house ¨C A look at H.R. 2454 (Cap and trade bill) This is unbelievable!
Only the beginning from this administration! Home owners take note & tell your friends and relatives who are home owners!
Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Cap and Trade Act, you won¡t be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act. H.R. 2454, the ¡°Cap & Trade¡± bill passed by the House of Representatives, if also passed by the Senate, will be the largest tax increase any of us has ever experienced.
The Congressional Budget Office (supposedly non-partisan) estimates that in just a few years the average cost to every family of four will be $6,800 per year.
No one is excluded.
However, once the lower classes feel the pinch in their wallets, you can be sure these voters get a tax refund (even if they pay no taxes at all) to offset this new cost. Thus, you Mr. and Mrs. Middle Class America will have to pay even more since additional tax dollars will be needed to bail out everyone else.
But wait. This awful bill (that no one in Congress has actually read) has many more surprises in it. Probably the worst one is this:
A year from now you won¡t be able to sell your house. Yes, you read that right.
The caveat is (there always is a caveat) that if you have enough money to make required major upgrades to your home, then you can sell it. But, if not, then forget it. Even pre-fabricated homes (¡±mobile homes¡±) are included.
In effect, this bill prevents you from selling your home without the permission of the EPA administrator.
To get this permission, you will have to have the energy efficiency of your home measured.
Then the government will tell you what your new energy efficiency requirement is and you will be forced to make modifications to your home under the retrofit provisions of this Act to comply with the new energy and water efficiency requirements.
Then you will have to get your home measured again and get a license (called a ¡°label¡± in the Act) that must be posted on your property to show what your efficiency rating is; sort of like the Energy Star efficiency rating label on your refrigerator or air conditioner.
If you don¡t get a high enough rating, you can¡t sell. And, the EPA administrator is authorized to raise the standards every year, even above the automatic energy efficiency increases built into the Act.
The EPA administrator, appointed by the President, will run the Cap & Trade program (AKA the ¡°American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009¡å) and is authorized to make any future changes to the regulations and standards he alone determines to be in the government¡s best interest. Requirements are set low initial y so the bill will pass Congress; then the Administrator can set much tougher new standards every year.
The Act itself contains annual required increases in energy efficiency for private and commercial residences and buildings.
However, the EPA administrator can set higher standards at any time.
Section 202
Building Retrofit Program mandates a national retrofit program to increase the energy efficiency of all existing homes across America .
Beginning 1 year after enactment of the Act, you won¡t be able to sell your home unless you retrofit it to comply with the energy and water efficiency standards of this Act.
You had better sell soon, because the standards will be raised each year and will be really hard (i.e., ex$pen$ive) to meet in a few years. Oh, goody! The Act allows the government to give you a grant of several thousand dollars to comply with the retrofit program requirements if you meet certain energy efficiency levels. But, wait, the State can set additional requirements on who qualifies to receive the grants.
You should expect requirements such as ¡°can¡t have an income of more than $50K per year¡±, ¡°home selling price can¡t be more than $125K¡±, or anything else to target the upper middle class (and that¡s YOU) and prevent them from qualifying for the grants.
Most of us won¡t get a dime and will have to pay the entire cost of the retrofit out of our own pockets. More transfer of wealth, more ¡°change you can believe in.¡±
Section 204
Building Energy Performance Labeling Program establishes a labeling program that for each individual residence will identify the achieved energy efficiency performance for ¡°at least 90 percent of the residential market within 5 years after the date of the enactment of this Act.¡±
This means that within 5 years 90% of all residential homes in the U.S. must be measured and labeled. The EPA administrator will get $50M each year to enforce the labeling program. The Secretary of the Department of Energy will get an additional $20M each year to help enforce the labeling program. Some of this money will, of course, be spent on coming up with tougher standards each year.
Oh, the label will be like a license for your car. You will be required to post the label in a conspicuous location in your home and will not be allowed to sell your home without having this label.
And, just like your car license, you will probably be required to get a new label every so often ¨C maybe every year.
But, the government estimates the cost of measuring the energy efficiency of your home should only cost about $200 each time.
Remember what they said about the auto smog inspections when they first started: that in California it would only cost $15. That was when the program started. Now the cost is about $50 for the inspection and certificate; a 333% increase. Expect the same from the home labeling program.
Section 304
Greater Energy Efficiency in Building Codes establishes new energy efficiency guidelines for the National Building Code and mandates at 304(d), Application of National Code to State and Local Jurisdictions, that 1 year after enactment of this Act, all state and local jurisdictions must adopt the National Building Code energy efficiency provisions or must obtain a certification from the federal government that their state and/or local codes have been brought into full compliance with the National Building Code energy efficiency standards.

What a rort! Billions for corrupt regimes

December 10, 2009 by APP News | Print this post

Mark Henderson writes -

Burma and Bangladesh are the two countries most vulnerable to climate change, according to a report on ABC news this morning.

The report was published on the side-lines of the Copenhagen meeting – and presumably the meeting will push for those countries and their ilk to be given big cash handouts to help combat climate change.

Left-wing organisations like Friends of the Earth are already pushing for poor and “vulnerable” nations to be given huge handouts.

http://www.foe.org.au/climate-justice/issues/climate-justice-and-climate-negotiations

One of the major problems with this approach is that nations like Australia – read taxpayers – would be handing over billions of dollars to the most corrupt regimes in the world.

Bangladesh ranks 139 out of 180 nations and Burma 178 out of 180 on an international corruption index.

So we are expected to hand over our billions to corrupt dictators and despots, with little likelihood the money will ever be properly accounted for.

What a rort.

Even the Dads Army of Liberals think Joyce is a nut

Tony Abbott puts rein on Barnaby Joyce

* Christian Kerr and Joe Kelly
* From: The Australian
* December 12, 2009 12:00AM

TONY Abbott has been forced to repudiate calls by his new finance spokesman, Barnaby Joyce, for a ban on investment in Australia by Chinese government-owned companies and clarify suggestions by the fledgling frontbencher that the US could default on its debts, triggering an "economic Armageddon".

As Senator Joyce remained unapologetic yesterday over his shoot-from-the-lip comments, the government accused him of spreading right-wing conspiracy theories and being a leading advocate of "wacko economics".

And the Chinese ambassador to Australia rejected his concerns about investment from state-owned companies.

Competition Minister Craig Emerson likened Senator Joyce's comments to the theories peddled by the lunar-right Citizens Electoral Council, the Australian wing of the extremist movement founded by the US self-styled economist and convicted fraudster Lyndon LaRouche.

But an unapologetic Senator Joyce said the debt comments had been inspired by "a radical right-wing rag called Newsweek".

He attacked the CEC as "nutcases", but said the real extremists were "off at Copenhagen" for the climate summit.

China's Ambassador to Australia, Junsai Zhang, also entered the debate, rejecting Senator Joyce's calls for a ban on Chinese investment in Australia.

Mr Zhang told The Weekend Australian he believed Wayne Swan had recently set out the proper attitude to foreign investment.

"Mr Swan has said that state-owned enterprise investment have played a more and more important role," Mr Zhang said.

"Australia has declared it is an open country for foreign investment and this is a very good position welcomed by the international community including China."

The ambassador said there had been waves of foreign investment in Australia and that investment from the US, Britain and Japan was higher than Chinese investment. "This is the right policy," he said, "although there will always be different views on this and that, but so long as the policy proceeds from a country's own national interest it is right."

Mr Abbott distanced himself from Senator Joyce's comments. "It certainly is not and never has been Coalition policy to oppose Chinese investment in Australia. Basically we welcome foreign investment." And in comments aimed at Senator Joyce, Mr Abbott called for discipline and said he had told all of his frontbenchers to abide by "team rules".

"One of the points that I made at the start of the first meeting of the new shadow ministry was that shadow ministry and shadow cabinet solidarity starts now," Mr Abbott said in Sydney after a first meeting of his opposition front bench. But Mr Abbott admitted to concerns about investment by state-owned enterprises from China or any other country.

The Opposition Leader also sought to clarify Senator Joyce's warnings about the US. He said he thought the US "does have serious imbalances" and it was important to "get those imbalances under control".

He laughed off whether he had conveyed his concerns to the Obama administration. "It's impossible to speak to President Obama because Kevin Rudd's always on the phone to him," Mr Abbott said.

On Thursday Senator Joyce claimed the US government could default on its debt, sparking an "economic Armageddon".

"A default by the US means complete economic collapse around the world and the question we have got to ask ourselves is where are we in that," he said.

Mr Abbott said the international economy still faced challenges as it emerged from the global financial crisis. "It is Mr Rudd who keeps saying that we're not out of the woods yet. Obviously we hope that there will be a steady and sustained international recovery but we can't take that for granted."

But Mr Emerson told The Weekend Australian "Barnaby Joyce has obviously been reading too many emails from the CEC.

"He is now a leading advocate of wacko economics."

The CEC platform declares "the present free trade system of `globalisation' is destroying the nation's agriculture and industry".

It calls for tariff protection, fixed exchange rates and government support through loans from state-owned banks at 2 per cent interest rates or lower for family farms, industry and for infrastructure development.

Mr Emerson said Mr Abbott must repudiate his finance spokesman's "daily crazy economic prescriptions".

"Barnaby's proclamations are taking the Liberal Party and Tony Abbott even further to the Right."

Dads Army in crisis

Rebellious Joyce slapped back into line
MICHELLE GRATTAN
December 12, 2009

Shadow treasurer Joe Hockey has slapped down new Opposition finance spokesman Barnaby Joyce over his comments on debt and banking.

Mr Hockey said the senator was wrong to claim Australian states and the US Government might default on debts, and that his comments on banks and Chinese investment were not policy.

Mr Hockey stressed that he, not the outspoken Nationals senator, was in charge of Opposition policy on foreign investment and banking.

As Kevin Rudd pilloried the Opposition over Senator Joyce's provocative comments, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott read his frontbench the riot act about discipline at its first meeting.

The Nationals' Senate leader had spoken out about the dangers of the US Government and Australian states defaulting on debt. He warned that if the US defaulted it would cause an ''economic Armageddon''. He urged a tougher approach to the banks and a harder line against Chinese investment in Australian resources.

Mr Abbott said he had told frontbenchers at yesterday's meeting that ''shadow ministry and shadow cabinet solidarity starts now … Everyone understands that and everyone will play by the team tactic, play by the team rules.''

Asked whether state governments could default, Mr Abbott said it was ''very important that we have sound public finances''.

Mr Hockey said Senator Joyce's comments were not Coalition policy.

''He's not responsible for foreign investment [policy] - I am,'' Mr Hockey said, adding that the Opposition had no plans to change banking regulation. ''We put in place [under the Howard government] the best financial services regulation in the world - it's globally recognised as the best financial services regulation - I helped put it in place.''

Mr Hockey said there was no evidence that any Australian states or the US were in danger of defaulting on loans.

Senior Liberals are anxious to take an early tough line against Senator Joyce, because his loose comments play into the Government's hands and damage the Opposition's economic credentials.

Mr Hockey and Senator Joyce had separate talks after the frontbench meeting. Senator Joyce said after the shadow ministry meeting: ''In a way it's kind of convenient because every time I get a difficult question I can say, well that's a view of shadow cabinet which I can't discuss.''

Mr Rudd said: ''To have the finance spokesman of the alternative government of Australia saying that one of our states could default - this is gross economic irresponsibility, policy on the run, shooting from the lip.

''There is a reputational interest here for Australia, whatever side of politics you're on … to defend the Australian economic interest.''

The speculative housing bubble and derivatives scam that is now leading to the planned demolition of the US economy is part of the transition to world government that you're now seeing a desperate push for.

The President of the EU, head of the UN, China (now advocating that world needs to adopt their eugenicist one child policy), Al 'An Inconceivable Lie' Gore and every other elite wanna-be on the bandwagon for world slavery through the World Bank taxes and IMF loansharking to third world nations - all of it can only happen if the US capitulates and is removed as the world superpower.

This is indeed what is happening now, and will continue over the next year and half. If you think this is crazy or extreme, just lock it away and remember this when the US economy is well below the waterline and there are riots in the streets.

Barnaby - you are a voice of sanity in a Corporatocracy that must be reigned in. We the people of Australia are counting on your sir. Keep up the pressure and know that we are right there beside you.

Hi Pamela Jones

Exactly! RE: Climategate
Yep our tax-payer funded ABC TV/Radio is a national treasure.

You might enjoy seeing a sober history of temperature changes on earth over recent decades, centuries, etc. The data has zero connection with IPCC(UN socialist psychos). Its in intuitive x,y plots at different resolutions. Have a look at the Medieval Warm Period[WMP] 1400's compared with 1900/2000. Don't forget Mozart was hammering away on a piano/harpsichord in 1700's. Sir Isaac Newton was hiding from the Great Plague..., and inventing calculus in the 1600's. The MWP was really not that long ago in human history.

This is a link that explains why CO2 is not the driving force behind climate change. Climate does change. Its just that CO2 is not behind the steering wheel.

Hi Barnaby,

Please seriously consider setting up a discussion forum or a LNP discussion form ASAP. Although one can leave comments, it is not easy to interact with each other. The bottom line is - you need to capture the serious grassroots momentum regarding the man made climate fraud and issues like immigration. This discussion is taking place online but it is fractured and spread across different blogs and sites. If you need to run a lean election campaign this can be a key way to do so.

There is a deep realisation that we all need to get involved, be more informed, take part in decisions. The complete farce and extravagance of Copenhagen shows that left unrestrained we may all be at the mercy of a
tyrannical system ruled and enforced by the UN and World Bank. It is heading that way and pushed by Soros, Goldman Sachs and shadow govts.

What you said about the US defaulting, has been discussed openly and without any misgivings by people like Ron Paul, Marc Faber, Peter Schiff, Max Keiser and many more for some time. They are all completely convinced that US as reserve currency will be no more. Did you see Soros at Copenhagen? It all fits like a jigsaw. You know about it obviously. Climate change is a fraud designed to usher in much much more than global carbon trading.

Please URGENTLY address a discussion forum. You are missing out on hundreds of thousands of people who want to see a change in Australia for the better and really need a way to come together.

Your cash, down a green hole in the ground

Tim Flannery on his new green dream of geothermal power:

"There are hot rocks in South Australia that potentially have enough embedded energy in them to run Australia’s economy for the best part of a century. They are not being fully exploited yet but the technology to extract that energy and turn it into electricity is relatively straightforward."

How straightforward? Judge by what’s happened to the Flannery investment in that very area of South Australia:

"GEODYNAMICS has provided an update on the safety situation after an well explosion on 24 April 2009 at its Habanero 3 well site at its Innamincka Joint Venture project in South Australia."

And then:

"An investigation into the explosion has found that chemicals in the well reacted with steel amid fluctuating temperatures to cause damage to the well’s casing… Brisbane-based Geodynamics has had to plug the well and two others with concrete. It said the implications for future well design and material selection are “complex”."

Odd that Flannery didn’t mention any of these woes - or his investment - when spruiking the technology on Lateline.

And now even more news of this “straightforward” technology:

"The company in charge of a California project to extract vast amounts of renewable energy from deep, hot bedrock has removed its drill rig and informed federal officials that the government project will be abandoned… The project by the company, AltaRock Energy, was the Obama administration’s first major test of geothermal energy…

The project’s apparent collapse comes a day after Swiss government officials permanently shut down a similar project in Basel, because of the damaging earthquakes it produced in 2006 and 2007. Taken together, the two setbacks could change the direction of the Obama administration’s geothermal program, which had raised hopes that the earth’s bedrock could be quickly tapped as a clean and almost limitless energy source…

Geothermal enthusiasts asserted that drilling miles into hard rock, as required by the technique, could be done quickly and economically with small improvements in existing methods, Professor Schrag said. “What we’ve discovered is that it’s harder to make those improvements than some people believed,” he added.

In fact, AltaRock immediately ran into snags with its drilling, repeatedly snapping off bits in shallow formations called caprock.."

Yet green spruikers such as Flannery managed to lure certain dupes into investing millions in this dream:

"Geodynamics won a A$90 million grant from Australia’s Renewable Energy Demonstration Program

WORLD METEOROLOGICAL ORGANIZATION

Sceptic Professor Fred Singer of SEPP(http://www.sepp.org/) says

There has been much confusion created by the announcement of the World Meteorological
Organization (UN-WMO) that the past decade
has shown some of the warmest years, based on
the record of 160 years of temperature data.

He goes on.

The WMO confuses (purposely?) two quite different concepts: TEMPREATURE (measured in degrees C) and TEMPREATURE TREND (measured in degrees C per year).
Of course, temperatures are at their highest, and may eventually become even higher, as the global climate recovers from the Little Ice Age—without any human assistance. It may even reach the high values seen in the Medieval Warm Period around 1100AD.
But temperature trends have been downward—even as GH gases like CO2 are increasing. This negative correlation contradicts the results of GH models and indicates that anthropogenic GW is quite small.

Finnish TV documentary exposes IPCC

Steve McIntyre, an outsider in climate science, had succeeded in breaking Mann's hockey stick, the icon of the climate change movement. But the story was not over. A whole factory started to produce new sticks to replace the broken one.

VO: So the Yamal data included only ten living trees from the 1990's, and the rapid growth of these individuals caused the steep rise of the hockey stick blade. In Finnish dendrological studies, hardly anything would be said based on just ten trees. What's demanded is at least 50 trees for each year, and several other quality criteria as well.

VO: The CRU database is the most important scientific justification for the demands that the most ambitious treaty in mankind's history should be finalized in Copenhagen in December. In spite of this, there is no way to replicate its' validity.

Recently the CRU director Phil Jones has announced that the original measurement data does not exist anymore because of data storage difficulties. A dog ate the world's most important scientific measurement homework.

Dr. Atte Korhola, professor of environmental change at the University of Helsinki, is an expert in lake sediment studies.

Atte Korhola: "Some curves and data have been used upside down, and this is not a compliment to climate science. And in this context it is relevant to note that the same people who are behind this are running what may be the world's most influential climate website, RealClimate. With this they are contributing to the credibility of science - or reducing it. And in my opinion this is alarming because it bears on the credibility of the field, and if these kinds of things emerge often - that data have been used insufficiently or even falsely, or if data series have been truncated or they have not been appropriately published (for replication), it obviously erodes the credibility, and this is a serious problem."

VO: A poorly known fact is that, global climate stopped warming after a two-decade period (in the late 1900's). Since 1998 there has been no statistically measured global warming. Instead, the climate has slightly cooled for several years. Not one of the climate models used by the IPCC was able to predict this turn of events.

Some new studies predict the cooling phase to continue longer, maybe for a couple of decades. In spite of that, many leading scientists affiliated with the IPCC still claim that global warming continues, even faster than predicted.

Meanwhile, some of the catastrophic consequences predicted by the models have been revealed as overblown. The Arctic sea ice has started to recover from its' minimum area recorded two years ago, Antarctic melting has slowed down to a minimum during measured history, sea level rise has not accelerated from its' previous rate, and hurricane seasons have been mild. Nature has not obeyed the manuscript.

Dr Rajendra Pachauri, Chairman IPCC - Let the peasants walk

A hairshirt lecture from above - as in 35,000 feet above, in business class:

" Hotel guests should have their electricity monitored; hefty aviation taxes should be introduced to deter people from flying; and iced water in restaurants should be curtailed, the world’s leading climate scientist has told the Observer.

Rajendra Pachauri, the chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), warned that western society must undergo a radical value shift if the worst effects of climate change were to be avoided. A new value system of “sustainable consumption” was now urgently required, he said."

Of course, this new asecetic lifestyle cannot possibly be imposed on a man as grand as Pachauri, with such crucial work to do to save us from the gases he belches out the back of his jet:

" I recently examined a UN document entitled ”Details of Outreach Activities carried out by Chairman IPCC, Dr. R. K. Pachauri Jan ‘07 July ‘08?

Dr Rajendra Pachauri flew at least 443,243 miles on IPCC business in this 19 month period. This business included honorary degree ceremonies, a book launch and a Brookings Institute dinner, the latter involving a flight of 3500 miles."

Add to his business flights this example of “sustainable consumption”:

"So strong is his love for cricket that his colleagues recall the time the Nobel winner took a break during a seminar in New York and flew in to Delhi over the weekend to attend a practice session for a match before flying back. Again, he flew in for a day, just to play that match. "

Jonathan Foreman also wonders whether Pachauri has urged the guests at his global warming party next week to avoid catching those sinful planes:

"The Copenhagen summit next week will generate vast quantities of hot air. It will see 16,500 people coming in from 192 countries. That amounts to 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide, roughly the same as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006. Also, the organisers will lay 900 kilometres of computer cable and 50,000 square miles of carpet. More than 200,000 meals will be served and visitors will drink 200,000 cups of coffee — at least that will be organic. "

(Thanks to reader Debbie.)

UPDATE

Meanwhile Pachauri becomes a denier of scientific corruption occuring right under his nose:

" Rajendra Pachauri defended the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in the wake of apparent suggestions in emails between climate scientists at the University of East Anglia that they had prevented work they did not agree with from being included in the panel’s fourth assessment report, which was published in 2007....

“The processes in the IPCC are so robust, so inclusive, that even if an author or two has a particular bias it is completely unlikely that bias will find its way into the IPCC report,” he said....

Pachauri was responding to one email from 2004 in which Professor Phil Jones, the head of the climatic research unit at UEA, said of two papers he regarded as flawed: “I can’t see either … being in the next Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report. Kevin [Trenberth] and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

Pachauri said it was not clear whether the wording of the emails reflected the scientists’ intended actions, but said: “I really think people should be discreet … in this day and age anything you write, even privately, could become public and to put anything down in writing is, to say the least, indiscreet...” "

So when Pachauri reads IPCC scientists saying they’ll “keep ... out” sceptical papers from, the IPCC, he thinks that’s unclear? Just “indiscreet” wording?

And how can he be so confident that such bias was kept out of the IPCC when, for instance, Climategate scientist Michael Mann, another IPCC author, managed to insert his now discredited “hockey stick” graph into the third IPCC report to falsely “prove” the world hadn’t been warmer in thousands of years?

How can he be so confident that bias didn’t infect the whole process, when another IPCC author and Climategate scientist, Kevin Trenberth, was privately admitting that the real-world data wasn’t matching the IPCC models on which global warming theory is based:

" ...where the heck is global warming ? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record… The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. "

UPDATE 2

Reader Charles says as recently as last month Trenberth. a leading expert in climate models, was privately admitting other Climategate scientists to huge uncertainties in them - caused by the fact that the world wasn’t behaving as they’d predicted:

" How come you do not agree with a statement that says we are no where close to knowing where energy is going or whether clouds are changing to make the planet brighter. We are not close to balancing the energy budget. The fact that we can not account for what is happening in the climate system makes any consideration of geoengineering quite hopeless... "

UPDATE 3

No Senator who votes for Kevin Rudd’s great green tax on everything can later claim they had no idea the world wasn’t actually warming as the global warmists predicted. Family First Senator Steve Fielding confronted them in the Senate with the evidence.

PS One way to pick the loony right wingers when reading through these comments is to look for

"THE CAPITAL LETTERS".

That's the loons SHOUTING at us because WE DON'T GET IT and it so obvious to them!

Oh and Campbell Swift, who started comparing the debate over climate change with what the eugenicists tried to achieve earlier last century, and having the hide to quote Michael Crichton, a bloody fiction writer novelist as a source "because he had some great science" ought to take a serious long look at him/herself. Crichton wrote Jurrasic Park and is not a scientist by any stretch of the imagination.

The analogy between eugenics and the debate about climate change is seriously misguided, even if it was well-intentioned.

There is an old saying - a great little rule of thumb - that the first person to invoke the Nazis in an argument discussion has lost the argument.

Congratulations Barnaby.
I'm not sure that I agree with taking up the position though.

Senators should be free to speak out and work for their state. Appointing you to the shadow cabinet will draw you between two loyalities. One to the shadow cabinet and the other to your role as a senator.

I'm personally against senators holding positions in cabinet or on the shadow cabinet.
Best of luck.

Hi Barnaby, I've always voted Labour or Greens in the past but this Athropogenic Climate Change Debate has challenged me to examine my beliefs and ideology in researching both sides of the debate. I challenge all left/socialist leaning peolpe to put down the cute cliches the fearmongering alarmists have us parroting ad nauseum and start researching both sides of the debate. Scientifically if the East Anglia CRU email scandal or Ben Santers (IPCC) confessions or the Mann et al "Hockey Stick" fraud doesn't wake you up, what will? Politically if you cant see the whole AGW scam as the most audacious and devestating grab for Global Governence the world has ever seen then i fear you are perilously indoctrinated as I once was myself.

I stongly recommend everyone having a look at the doco "Fall of the Republic"(Google it) for an American and Global context of the AGW, GFC, Global Governence debate, a brilliant introduction for all, then do your own research and make your own conclusions. Sorry folks... there is no Santa, the UN (IPCC & IMF) doesn't love you, Bush and Howard with their New World Order agenda didn't love you, Rudd and Obama with their Global Governence agenda still don't love you... Have you noticed... same agenda, different actors, all working for the same plutocracy of global finacial elites.

Did you notice how both sides of politics were quick to condemn and silence Barnaby when he rightly tried to warn the people of the impending fall of the US dollar as the Global currency standard. The political machine closed ranks because his comment threatened to wake up the sheeple and thus threaten the system that has been carefully put in place for us to blindly submit to. Again have a look at (google); "Fall of the Republic, The Obama Presidency" do your own research and start thinking for yourselves... Congratulations on the promotion Barnaby, nothing like a promotion to shut up free thinking, out spoken, democratic individuals like yourself... good luck in the belly of the machine.
